Just had to share this adorable nursery with you. Mom, Katie is a photographer (she took our family photos) and dad is a designer, so you know they’d put together something amazing for their firstborn. Baby Fox is the cutest! Read what they say about the space…
When we moved into our house about a year and a half ago, we originally envisioned the second bedroom as a guest room. Unfortunately it became a space that we started using for additional storage for things we weren’t sure what to do with. The previous owner had painted the ceiling a very dark navy blue and I couldn’t stand it so we ended up just keeping the door closed pretty much all the time. When we found out we were having a baby we finally had a reason to clear it out do something with it. The ceiling was such a pain to paint over, but when it was done it looked so much better!
We decided on a vintage boy scouting/exploring theme for the room and created a moodboard to go off of. We didn’t want to go overboard with vintage pieces (plus we wanted a safe and structurally sound crib), so we decided to get our main pieces of furniture in white to keep the room feeling fresh, while filling it in with vintage details.
Our favorite part of the room is the globe mobile. When it arrived in the mail we were surprised at the size of it (pictured it to be MUCH smaller) and was nervous that it was too big. But now we love it and Fox does too! He just lays in his crib and smiles up at it. We are proud of the room and look forward to the potential it holds for Fox as he grows!
GULLIVER crib, POANG rocker, EXPEDIT shelving unit, LACK floating shelves from IKEA / bookshelf from Target / dresser is vintage find from TFA / triangle curtains, rug, floor lamp from Urban Outfitters / brass monogram tree letters from Anthropologie / globe mobile from Fab, also available at Rosenberry Rooms

When I was pregnant I saw some gorgeous blocks online, but they were rather expensive. I painted some of the vintage blocks from my gran and voila! Follow the steps to this super simple DIY and you will soon have some too!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
wooden letter blocks
gold acrylic paint
paintbrush
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Gather your supplies.
2. Lightly paint the raised surface of each block. Try to avoid painting the letters. (or if the letters on your blocks are raised, try to avoid the area around it)
3. Wait for coat to dry, then apply another coat.
4. Repeat until all of the blocks are evenly coated.
6. Wait until dry and then display!

TOYS FROM GRANDMA: I’m not big on things that are monogrammed, but I do get excited when I see my name on something. She could not wait to give this little vintage set to me! Not only did this Jax Case have one, but both of my kids’ nicknames on it! I mean. Even my husband was like…whoa that’s pretty cool. Definitely a keepsake.
See my Gran’s other incredible thrift store finds here and here.
The vintage inspired baby collection, Itsy Bitsy shop is now open over at Shop Ruche!
TOYS FROM GRANDMA: I have so many fun toys to post…sorry I am a little behind.
I immediately said ‘yes’ when my grandma showed me this little guy. I remember playing with a bigger version when I was a kid…pretty sure the dentist office had one too.

[ part two ] Instead of a game at the baby shower, my sister and I thought that it would be fun to do a DIY. We made paper lunch sacks with all the supplies + instructions to make little hair clips for the baby. Above are some of my favorites…even my niece London made baby Adelaide (Addie) one!
[ part one ] This past Sunday we threw my older sister a vintage school themed baby shower…she’s a teacher. It was so much fun to plan. I designed her invitations to look like a vintage flashcard. It has been really cool being pregnant at the same time with her, even though this is her first baby, my second. And she is having a GIRL! Hence the cake…which is a traditional cake that my family makes for anyone expecting. I always decorate it so it has a modern twist. Look for part two, my little sister and I planned a fun DIY for the guests.

TOYS FROM GRANDMA: a new series. My gran has been working at her parish’s local thrift store for quite sometime. She is always coming across the greatest toys…timeless treasures that she knows I will love. Every time we go, she has a box (or two) ready for us to go through. By the way, my husband just loves when I bring MORE toys home…ha!
Well get a load of this incredible wooden Cragston piano. My mouth dropped. Jax loves it too! Cragston made mostly tin robots and cars throughout the mid 60s. I haven’t been able to find too much history on this little baby grand, so if you know anything about it, please share.
I am visiting my grandma this weekend…curious to see what she has waiting for us.
Happy Friday! xo
Happy February! Just wanted to share this little DIY garland that I made yesterday. My grandma gave my sister (who is a first grade teacher) these old vintage letters that were once used for a school bulletin board. She wasn’t really into them so she gave them to me…of course I found a use for them! I love how it turned out…so tiny and delicate.

ps. the weather here is incredible today…blogging (+ working) outside while Jax is running around the backyard with the dog.
These kite valentines have got to be the sweetest. Eva of Misako Mimoko has handmade these one-of-a-kind greetings with a vintage fabrics and felt. Hand-painted faces and ‘Happy Valentine’ is embroidered on the back. Even though they may not be suitable for children to play with, they would still make perfect decorations.

Oh So Beautiful Paper
I know this is kind of unrelated but my our save the dates are featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper today! I am still working on our invites…hopefully they will be done soon.
New momma, Jamie from Hank + Lucy has truly made a perfect space for her little guy. It looks so cozy and comfortable. My favorite part about it, is that there is no extravagant theme! Why does it have to? It’s perfect. Every little detail. See more of little Henry’s nursery here.
One thing that everyone kept asking me when I was pregnant…what is your theme for the nursery? Agh…I don’t want one! Well, I guess you could say its transportation, but it’s a modern and vintage mix. Lots of old toys, books and artwork. What is your little ones room like?
My new favorite shop…House 8810! They seem to have a little bit of everything…cowboys and monkeys. I especially like the coil head robot and this wind-up bi-plane made of tin! Maybe I will order them for Jaxon’s easter basket. Check it out, they have lots of new items…the log building set definitely brought back memories.
You have to check out the flickr collections by pilllpat…they are amazing. I just loved the french alphabet from the old children’s book, ABC du Pere Castor. I’d like to get my hands on a copy! The vache (cow) is my favorite!
Every time I see a vintage wooden toy, it makes me smile. I just think of all the little sticky hands that must have touched it, all the memories. I always wonder how many times it has been passed down to new generations.
Jaxon has received many vintage toys, they are such treasures. My aunt just gave him a giant metal top, I caught him playing with it this morning! I want to start a tradition. This Christmas I am putting a few wooden toys on his wish list, in hopes that he will play with them and one day give them to his children.
