TOYS FROM GRANDMA: a new series. My gran has been working at her parish’s local thrift store for quite sometime. She is always coming across the greatest toys…timeless treasures that she knows I will love. Every time we go, she has a box (or two) ready for us to go through. By the way, my husband just loves when I bring MORE toys home…ha!
Well get a load of this incredible wooden Cragston piano. My mouth dropped. Jax loves it too! Cragston made mostly tin robots and cars throughout the mid 60s. I haven’t been able to find too much history on this little baby grand, so if you know anything about it, please share.
I am visiting my grandma this weekend…curious to see what she has waiting for us.
Happy Friday! xo

recycled s! The little buses are modeled after old Volkswagen vans. They are pretty popular so keep an eye out! Check out the yo-yos and tops too…each one of a kind. Artist Jason Greene’s shop, Board Games was recently featured on Etsy. Read more about him here.
Toys are not really as innocent as they look. Toys & games are the prelude to serious ideas.
Alright all you Pinterest pinners…ha! I know many of you have been asking where these awesome rugs are from. Here is the answer to your question…the play rugs are from Danish byDesign. They have a wide range of three-dimensional rugs, this one is my favorite…see more here.
This weeks Etsy discovery…Debivanzyl, owned by designer Debi van Zyl. Her New Recycles are made from once-lived materials and lost buttons. Meet Aiko: beast no. 159, a one-of-a kind toy. I think she is a squid or a jellyfish, either way she is awesome. Aiko’s parents were an aqua blue pull-over and yellow cardigan. Her eyes were handed-down to her from an antique shop.
Visit Debi’s blog and see what she is up to; meet her dog Arrow too!
Mustaches and bow ties…Ladies & Gentlemen this is the beautiful work of Chrissie MacDonald. Lovely geometric figures. Brilliant color. I like the little orange guy in the middle with the top hat! See more of her works here.

I had such a fun day on friday…finally, I was allowed to take a vacation day from work! I got so much done and got to play with my little peanut. We played for hours in his room…we found some ‘new’ toys in the bottom of his toy box too. He is such a big boy now!
ps. he really can’t ride his tricycle yet, but he likes to sit on it.
Finalist, Elka Karl submitted this fabric pup tent in the ReadyMade 100. This would be a fun dig project to make this summer on a warm night…Jaxon would love it! It’s a great place to read books, play games and hide. Find all the step-by-step instructions here.

My new favorite shop…House 8810! They seem to have a little bit of everything…cowboys and monkeys. I especially like the coil head robot and this wind-up bi-plane made of tin! Maybe I will order them for Jaxon’s easter basket. Check it out, they have lots of new items…the log building set definitely brought back memories.
I’ve been so busy at work…getting ready for a video shoot next week. As I was searching for wardrobe examples on one of my favorite sites, Shop Ruche, I saw these cute little animal erasers. Thought that I would share…they made me smile.
Wood + triangles = handmade fun for kids. These geometric wooden blocks on the left were hand painted by Serena Mitnik-Miller. They are available at the General Store in San Fran. (note: her site is temporarily unavailable now, but hopefully it will be up soon). Merrilee Liddiard, a talented illustrator made these colorful puzzles on the right for her little ones. All you need is a bit of wood and paint…simple and hours of fun!
