Eight…teen…months. (don’t cry. don’t cry) My big brown-eyed baby is growing into a little boy. I think this age is a turning point. I feel like Casen can really understand what we are all saying. I just smile inside every time he recognizes and remembers things, like his blankie. The other day the sitter said he went to the door and saw a lady with blonde hair walking her dog and he freaked thinking it was me, saying ‘Momma’ ‘Ma!’…son, I wish it would have been me.
I feel like I can see how much he is growing because I’m not at home with him every day. Saying more and more words. Not quite as talkative as his little girl cousins, Hazel and Addie, who were all born super close together. He can say ‘bayybee’ and ‘ball’ all day long though. He loved his visit to see baby Avery this month. And I think Halloween is going to be his fave holiday…pro trick-or-treater.
Oh Casen Blake I love your squishy cheeks and the way you get excited when I walk in the door. I love the way you give your daddy knuckles and high fives. I could live without the toy throwing and you climbing on the kitchen island, but I will not deter your independence and need for adventure. I love you so.
Not quite a year and a half but soon my baby will have his second half birthday. I’m treasuring every moment with him. His squishy little cheeks, his chubby little legs that I just can’t resist to put leggings on, his puffy little lips that make loads of smacks, tons of kisses and say ‘bye-bye’. His voice is the sweetest!
Casen is growing right on track…making his way in a size six shoe. Likes to dance. Lover of hats. His head is almost the size of his brothers! Solid for sure. This past month he has given it a test run. Doing tumbles on concrete, head banging the front door and hitting it himself in the midst of a tantrum. Needless to stay he is most likely to become a starting linebacker. He’s pretty fast too. I certainly can’t keep up…he’s in one room and sprints to the other. He has no fear. None. Especially when it comes to stairs.
This past month he visited his new baby cousin Avery, went apple picking with his Aunt Jessi, went to a few fun birthday parties and went thrifting with his momma.
Not quite a year and a half…still my baby. Case is changing every day. Starting to ramble a few words, nothing super clear yet, besides ‘ball’ and ‘da’ which means every thing he points to! I love his squishy little cheeks and those lips are to die for.
Doc said he’s looking good on all the charts. 28” tall, 26lbs, and a head almost the size of his brothers. The few hairs he has are looking a little on the blonde side…and I can seeee curls! (< happy momma!) Growing boy…soon will be beating up his brother. Which has only just begun. I mean freaking quit fighting over toys already. Haha! Hoping my extra laid back button kicks in when the fighting really starts to happen.
He loves shoes and hats (which he used to hate). Is ticklish. Climbs our bed, the steps, the couch, wiggles his way up onto the barstools. He’s half monkey. And Still eats veggies…YAY!
This month he enjoyed his first snow cone, out grew his first pair of moccs, got his first tattoo (temporary), took a boat ride on the river, helped celebrate momma’s 30th birthday and of course visited the local donut shop too many times.
Year number two is off to a fantastic start…aside from the massive poop incident that covered Casen’s face. wall. curtain. mattress. blanket. and seahorse glowworm. I refuse to share the photo…it’s too gross. Anyway everything is all cleaned up and I can’t get enough of my sweet one year old.
At his one year check up he weighed 24 lbs + measured 31 inches long. His little hair is finally starting to grow. Hoping for curls! He is going to get all the ladies with his lips…always sticking them out, giving kisses. It is the cutest. He leans his head over with his mouth open. omg! Stop growing. I mean stop walking everywhere! Case is not afraid of anything. Well maybe my sister’s dog. ‘Daw’ his new word. He loves our dog, George. Giggles and gets so tickled when he walks past and sniffs him. Definitely still ticklish, always has been.
This past month he was a first timer in the ‘car cart’ at the grocery store, enjoyed a few dips in our new kiddie pool in the backyard, went to Grant’s Farm and celebrated cousin Addie’s first birthday!
Two years + nine months…agh! In a few short months (of course, the months that go that fastest because of the holidays) Jaxon will be three! Oh my.
Every time he does something that I haven’t seen or says something new…I get mixed emotions and think to myself, It’s okay. I get to see Case do this. It’s true.
'Mom, I pee orange!' This is what he says nearly every time he goes to the bathroom. He likes to sit backwards…well the right way. He sits on the front edge facing the lid. That's Jax. Still not accident free! Grr. We were for two days, then boom, back to ZERO. The problem is clothes. He was doing so well. If he is running around in his birthday suit or just underwear, he goes. Sometimes even without even telling me. But if I add pants…he has an accident. Potty training is such an emotional wet roller coaster…for me. Some days I don’t think he’s ready. Other days he’s a champ.
In other news…’Whittle Winesteins’ is his favorite show. That, and Jake. He is obsessed with airplanes! I can’t wait to take him on his first trip. No plans yet, but hopefully soon. Still deciding what he will be for Halloween. eek! But super excited to go to the pumpkin patch this weekend!
My kid just decided to pretend his Rody was a diving board…jumped ten feet high and then face planted on the floor. #nbd #toddlers
OMG this kid. ‘Shake it off’…that’s what we tell Jax when he does crazy things that don’t end so well. We were busting last night. By the way, he is fine. Just had to share…maybe get you to laugh. If you don’t already, follow me on twitter…@_lauracoggins and @littlemanjax too!
If you don’t know who Rody is…he’s the hippity hop ride-on horse.
Jax. My wild one. He’s yet again, another month older. I thought he was a chatterbox last month, well he is quite the mumbler. Talking multiple sentences so fast, even I sometimes have trouble interpreting. His new favorite word is ‘not’. ‘I not wanna’ ‘Not whittle milk, bid milk mommy’ ‘No not changa my diaper’. Follow him on twitter…it’s a great read when you need a laugh.
He has a little tude sometimes…bossy. Other times he is so funny. He has been learning just about every animal and what sound they make. The newest is a shark, a wolf and a woodpecker. He is so smart…says them and sometimes does little hand motions. When he forgets, he always asks, ‘whats zat says?’ My favorite one is the mouse. No noise, he just sniffs…for cheese. Ha! I taught him that one.
Lately, we have been trying to do more activities, like painting and making things. Pinterest is so helpful for diy ideas. I also like seeing what Made by Joel has up his sleeve. I’ve been wanting to post our fish tank we made…but we still have a few fish to add. Yesterday we made a paper party hat. He’s into hats.
In other news…he is still not potty trained (booo!) and can officially undress himself.
oxoxo…I’m pretty sure we have one of the most lovable kids around. Jax gives hugs and ‘tisses’ and ‘I yous’ all the time! So we are sending everyone lots of love this week! Yesterday he turned 25 months. Hard to believe his second birthday was already a month ago. Where does the time go?
Jaxon is growing up so much…doing lots of new things. I have really noticed that he is concentrating much more when he plays. Daddy is teaching him how to play hockey…so fun to watch them. He is obsessed with the yard stick, the plunger, Daddy’s leaf blower and my typewriter. Always wants to go outside…even brings me his shoes to speed up the process. Ha! Loves to climb in and out and on top of anything…our little dare devil. He is also in to running fast.
He is so determined. Has to brush his teeth everyday. Likes to pick out what color shirt he wears. Loves to take baths…umm, probably two times a day. His vocabulary has tripled…says two and three words all the time. The other day he burped at lunch and said ‘scuse you’. Using those manners…even when I don’t remind him! It’s funny he says ‘No please’. See what else he is saying here.
He lets me know when he poops…hopefully we are one step closer to being diaperless. Eating habits are not so great though. He would much rather drink milk for every meal…but we are trying to work in some new foods. I am so glad that he is sleeping in his big boy bed all the time now. No crying either, well except he always wants me to go to sleep too. FYI…toddler beds are super uncomfortable.
ister Jaxon turned 22 months this past Movember 12th. Even though we couldn’t get him to wear a mustache for Halloween this year, he still made a sharp little Monopoly Guy. Trick or treating wasn’t really for him…it was a bit dark and he was cutting a new tooth. Hopefully next year he will be as excited as me.
If you haven’t heard, Jax has a big boy bed now. He enjoys jumping on it nearly everyday. The switch is actually going much better than we ever expected.
It’s just amazing what he picks up. He is now learning his colors…he knows orange, blue and purple. He can point out most animals and what sounds they make. His favorite is the moo cow, of course. And, he can count to ten (with a little help)…at the end he goes ‘…ninne, tennn!’. It’s so cute when he stares at me in the eyes and tries so hard to say whats on his mind. Sometimes he’s a mumbler and other times his words are super clear! Daddy sneezed the other day and Jaxon said, ‘Bless you’. He yelled, ‘Laura, Laura…did you hear him?!’. He had never heard him say it before. It made me smile.
Jaxon can pretty much entertain himself. You can just look at him with a funny face and he will start giggling. A few weeks ago, I caught him pouring out his juice on his high chair tray to blow bubbles…ha! He gets excited over the simplest things, which I am so happy to see everyday. He is such a good kid.
(btw…I am not a fan of mustaches, but my husband has decided to not only grow one, he has a beard too.)
