My inspiration for Vivienne’s Nursery was the Themis Mobile by Artecnica. I loved the geometric shapes with its bold hues. From that one item, I was able to turn a clean canvas into an array of colors. I’ve always been drawn to modern design with its minimalist view on decor. I thought it was best to keep the walls white and let the bedding, prints, and etc. splash the room with punchy tones. This way Vivienne can grow into her space, not outgrow it. Also, since our family lives with my in-laws, we three share the same space. So I needed to keep the room adult and child friendly.
Overall, I’m thrilled with how Vivienne’s Nursery came together. I’ve realized that choosing a modern approach to decorating has made the room so versatile. And because our family’s living situation is temporary, I know when we move, her room will adjust easily to the change. That’s why modern style will always be my favorite. It’s constantly evolving which is ideal for our family’s on the go lifestyle.

Just had to share this adorable nursery with you. Mom, Katie is a photographer (she took our family photos) and dad is a designer, so you know they’d put together something amazing for their firstborn. Baby Fox is the cutest! Read what they say about the space…
When we moved into our house about a year and a half ago, we originally envisioned the second bedroom as a guest room. Unfortunately it became a space that we started using for additional storage for things we weren’t sure what to do with. The previous owner had painted the ceiling a very dark navy blue and I couldn’t stand it so we ended up just keeping the door closed pretty much all the time. When we found out we were having a baby we finally had a reason to clear it out do something with it. The ceiling was such a pain to paint over, but when it was done it looked so much better!
We decided on a vintage boy scouting/exploring theme for the room and created a moodboard to go off of. We didn’t want to go overboard with vintage pieces (plus we wanted a safe and structurally sound crib), so we decided to get our main pieces of furniture in white to keep the room feeling fresh, while filling it in with vintage details.
Our favorite part of the room is the globe mobile. When it arrived in the mail we were surprised at the size of it (pictured it to be MUCH smaller) and was nervous that it was too big. But now we love it and Fox does too! He just lays in his crib and smiles up at it. We are proud of the room and look forward to the potential it holds for Fox as he grows!

Just had to share my little niece Adelaide’s nursery. It is adorable! My sister loves quilts, so she mixed patterned fabrics and paper all around. She was inspired by Camille Roskelley’s blog Simplify. From the bedding to the paper on pinwheel mobile, everything is handmade with the help of family and friends. You would never even know that the curtains originally was a shower curtain! My brother-in-law loves the outdoors, so we hand painted birch trees and added little birds on the wall. I handmade the welcome home garland with old bulletin board letters, similar to this one. I really like the framed grouping above the crib with all the photos and printed goods.

The nursery! Agh…if this baby arrives as early as Jax did, that means I only have 9 weeks to go. Woah. I’ve gotta get this little guy’s home ready! Inspired by the rooms above…I know what color I want to paint the walls and what I want the curtains to look like. But the floor…I hate it! I just want to rip it up and paint the hardwood white! Why don’t I? Well, I’ve asked my husband so many times. No, everytime. It’s pretty damaged, so my solution is to get an awesome rug and I will be happy. I love this citrine stripe rug, but my budget is limited. I will have to try this DIY tutorial…seems pretty easy. So much to do…
Welcome baby Ethan! My friend Mike and his wife Lauren just had a precious baby boy. I can’t believe he is already over a month old. Mike is a talented designer and photographer. He illustrated all the artwork for the nursery. And I was so excited to see the vintage wooden blocks that I gifted to them, sitting on a shelf…too cute!
I can’t wait for Mike to photograph our wedding in August!
This weeks Etsy discovery…The Little Tiny, owned by Alison Faulkner Robertson. I’m smitten over all of her handmade leather mobiles, made of hand-dyed 100% pure leather with a variety of colors and textures. The Arrows and Feathers mobile above is one of my favorites. I’m obsessed with triangles! I will definitely have to remember this shop the next time I design another nursery.

New momma, Jamie from Hank + Lucy has truly made a perfect space for her little guy. It looks so cozy and comfortable. My favorite part about it, is that there is no extravagant theme! Why does it have to? It’s perfect. Every little detail. See more of little Henry’s nursery here.
One thing that everyone kept asking me when I was pregnant…what is your theme for the nursery? Agh…I don’t want one! Well, I guess you could say its transportation, but it’s a modern and vintage mix. Lots of old toys, books and artwork. What is your little ones room like?
