just a few firsts.

Jax is another month older, 39 months…so independent, curious and adventurous. Each time I write an update about him, I try to just soak in everything that happened the past month, what he said to me, the things he did. We have good days and we have days full of nothing but fits.

It has been a crazy month. With the tragedy in Boston and in Texas…I’m holding my babies close. Praying for all the families that are suffering and that have lost a loved one. He experienced his first storm, the power went out and we had to head to the basement with a candle. A tornado actually hit a few miles from our house. Power outages everywhere, so we stayed in a hotel for a little bit. It was his first time (that he could remember) As he walked in he said, ‘It’s like a home, I wuv this chair too!’

Hoping this month will be better and brighter! Summer is almost here. Daddy is building his first swing set that MawMaw and PopPop gave him for his birthday. It’s the littlest I’ve ever seen. He will love it. He loves to be outside. Riding his bike. Stealing daddy’s tools. Pretending to be a ‘worker guy’. He’s got a new little neighbor pal, Annie. He played his first game of tag. It was so cute to watch. Lots of giggles.

Yesterday we took Jax on a late night trip to Smoothie King…first timer!

11 months old.

Aghhh! No. I mean what?! Still sinking in that Case is eleven months old. See a few photos here. No more baby clothes and soon he will be out of his pumpkin seat. Oh geez. On a positive note…time to plan his first birthday party!

Seriously y’all he is going to walk any day. He stood up the other day and started to take a step and just I grabbed him. Um…I’m not ready yet. I know. I know. But I didn’t have my camera and Daddy was at work. Have to capture that big milestone.

This past month he rocked out at his cousin London’s fifth birthday party, had visits from his little cousin Addie, watched Daddy and his brother build a snowman and got his first pair of moccs.

sweet like summer.

Jax. Jax. Jax. Yet another month older, that makes 38 months to be exact. This past month (week rather) he has blown my mind. So damn smart. All those tricks I had up my sleeve when he was younger are not working so much anymore.

We are dying to get outside, it seems to be either really rainy or randomly snowing here. Jax’s favorite thing to do inside is jump in Case’s crib with him. The other day I said, ‘Enough jumping for today’ and told him to ‘get out immediately!’ He knew I meant business. So he left the room for a minute, came back in and held out his hand, ‘Mom, will you give me?’ I didn’t understand what he wanted so I asked, ‘What do you mean?’ he quickly replied…’It makes people happy.’ My mouth dropped. My son was asking me to forgive him because he was jumping without my permission. Really?! Talk about blown away that my three year old knows the concept of forgiveness! The sweetest thing ever! Well and THIS bedtime chat too.

So happy that he is eating better! He ate pork chops, butternut squash + quinoa the other night for dinner. These are helping out a little. And maybe Case is rubbing off on him a little. Operation Milk is still in full force. (Thank you everyone for the tips!)

Side note, I’m really not into all these action figures or toys guns. Ready for spring, I mean summer! Swimming and bikes and activities that wear him out. Ha!

Operation Milk

Help! My kid is obsessed with milk. He wakes up several times in the middle of the night requesting more milk. Again when he wakes up. Again and again all day every day. No milk in the middle of the night results in screaming and crying for milk. ‘Milk is my favorite!’ ‘I need milk now!’ ‘Mom open da fridge!’ AGHH!

So for the past two nights I have refused to give in. The reason why, is because ever since Jax has been potty trained he hasn’t had any accidents in his bed during the night. Two nights ago was his first. He freaked and of course wanted milk. Grr. Any advice would be super helpful.

Cheers to sleepless nights during Operation Milk!

10 months old.

We are in the double digits now…eek! Oh it makes me so happy to see Casen growing and doing new things. My baby is not so little anymore, in a few months we will be celebrating his first birthday!

Case is quite the little mover. Getting a bit harder to keep an eye on…usually you can find him behind the couch or in the bathroom. He tried to wash the shower curtain in the toilet this week. I think he dreams of being big so he can do all the things Jax does. Like running! He loves his brother. One of these days they will be in the living room wrestling, knocking each others teeth out. (That day can take its sweet ol time). Speaking of teeth. Some newbies came in…crooked as ever, but hoping they straighten out.

This past month he has learned to clap! It is the cutest. Catch it over on vine…and follow me! (I got a new phone so my video quality isn’t so shitty anymore).

not whittle bitty tiny…BIG!

Everything is BIG in Jaxon’s world. Even him…he has already been three for a month! You always hear about the terrible twos, but I think that three is going to be um, lets just say worse, a challenge, hard, interesting. Let’s be positive, right?!

We went to the doc for his checkup yesterday. He was all over the place. He’s a wild man! The only way he can be still for a minute is if he was looking in the mirror or hanging up side down. He was good though, no super huge screaming fits. (Hate those with a passion). He is 3 feet 1 inch tall and weights 33 pounds. Threes across the board.

He just discovered his shadow. Likes to run around naked and go to the gym. Let’s pretend those things happened at once, oh wait they did. eek! Needless to say we are teaching him about his private parts and being in public. He love to sing and make up songs when his is helping clean or riding in the car. Into transformers and puppets. He is starting to like food. Still obsessed with milk. Not whittle bitty tiny…BIG milk.

This kid. He brightens my day and pushes all my buttons.

9 months old.

Geez. I feel like I just wrote Case’s update, but it’s that time again because he is 9 months old today! This past month has been great, despite a few visits to the doc, he is happy and healthy 19.9 lb baby.

My brave little one has been trying to let go once he pulls up next to the couch. Getting closer and closer to walking. (It’s really okay, I can wait for that to happen.) We’ve been trying to teach him to wave…almost, but not quite yet. Still ticklish as ever…his giggles are too much to handle. And when he smiles you can see his teeny tiny pearly whites. He got three new teeth this past month! Which is good because he loves food. Pretty much out of that soupy baby food and into the good stuff. He loves everything except broccoli. He is such a good little sleeper too, he slept twelve hours, two nights in a row. Any parents dream! Maybe he can teach Eating + Sleeping 101 to his big brother Jax. Ha!

New haircut! You many have seen Jax on Instagram this past weekend, but I just had to share the photos of my little three year old grown up kid with his new cut! I made the sides a little shorter, because it grows so fast.

Dear Jax…

You will always be my baby even though you are growing so big, into the smartest, craziest boy I know. We’ve made it through so many things together, most recently almost a whole year of potty training. Our toilet lid is filled with stickers and I am so happy to say you are now accident free! I couldn’t be more thrilled. I know this year will be full of new adventures. Hoping we can get you to eat like your brother. Maybe start crossfit for kids. But your biggest adventure will be preschool. Whoa. I mean, I know you are ready. You will do great. You rock at your numbers and we all know you love the second half of the alphabet…starting with Q, and you already know your left foot from your right. But before school starts we are going to take you to the beach!

I love you, my little three year old.
Mom

This happened this morning. These are the moments I would miss everyday if I wasn’t able to work from home. I am so thankful my husband lets me.

8 months old

They always say the first year goes by fast…it does, but even faster when you have two little ones. I’m always trying to squeeze in time for an extra kiss or snuggle because my little guy, Casen is getting so big! See his photo here.

He is crawling everywhere. We lowered his mattress in his crib again this weekend because he was hanging onto the railing, standing up! I need eyes in the back of my head to keep up, he’s quick. He will probably be the football player in the fam. I told my husband this morning he was going to be a model because he is always smiling, showing off his one teeny tiny bottom tooth. You’ll see him on tv someday or making someones day brighter for sure.

I love how you can’t fall asleep without your mobile. How you curl your toes. How you always smack your lips when eat your favorite foods. How ticklish you are. Your giggles. Everything.

I am such a proud momma.

Not cute, Awesome!

This kid. He’s mine. He’s a mess. I love him…all two years and eleven months of him. Jax will always be our little peanut no matter how big he grows.

Saying four sentences at a time. I enjoy trying to decipher the things he tries to say. The other day he woke up from his nap, looked at me so serious and asked, ‘where’s baby Tasen’s tail?’ Ha! He’s a dreamer. Some guy took him for ride in a spaceship too! He always corrects me when I tell him something is cute. ‘Not cute, Awesome!’ It makes me smile every time.

He hates eating. Well unless its sugar, which he rarely gets. We have resorted to putting him in Case’s high chair to eat…and he will sit there for an hour. Stubborn little dude. I was the small kid my whole life, so he’ll probably be the small kid too. But I know that won’t stop him. He is in full superhero mode. You can find him running around the house…naked most of the time pretending to be strong. He is going to shit his pants at his superhero birthday party next month. Capes, wristbands and all.

7 months old

Oh boy…Casen definitely hit a growth spurt this past month. Already trying to crawl…scootin’ backwards and getting up on his knees. Ahh! Too much! And of course, saying ‘dadadadada’ all day long. I keep telling myself that he only said ‘dada’ first because he just misses his dad so much during the day. (ha! okay maybe I’m just a little jealous). I really thought he was going to stay a baby forever, but I am so curious of all the new things he will do, how he will sound when he talks, what his hair will look like when it actually grows…the first year is the best!

Doctor said at his six month checkup that I was doing a great job. That pretty much made my day. Sometimes it just blows my mind that I am responsible for him, what he eats, what he learns…I don’t even know if that make sense but I just can’t explain the feeling. I feel so blessed to be a mom. And Case makes it so easy, so thankful.

We just had our family photos taken last week and he was such a good boy. Sat up by himself and smiled. Those big brown eyes were just glowing as usual. Happiest baby ever. Although, I bet he could win the world record for most spit ups in an hour. Ha!

Lately…these two have been good pals. Maybe it could be because they both have been feeling under the weather. We are all a little stir crazy. Excited though because we are getting out of the house tomorrow to get our family photos taken! Even the dog is coming.

Oh so strong.

All two years + ten months of him. Jax is my little superhero. Climbing on the counters to capture his milk cup. Making fists and tumbling over the dog. We just trimmed the tips off a pair of his mittens and he thinks he is on top of the world. ‘I superman!’ He amazes me everyday.

He is into putting things in his pockets. Measuring things. He likes to take the empty paper towel roll and pretend it’s a telescope. Put on his Halloween costume. Obsessed with hats. Likes to dance…he’s got the moves. ‘Do dis mom.’ Ha!

So smart. Some days I just think…wow, where did you learn that. The other day he was talking about a booby trap. He keeps us on our toes for sure. If he could only master potty training. The longest he has been accident free is two days. The minute I think day three will come…he has an explosion. Agh!! Almost there. Almost there.
