I’m sure you have a little artist in the family who is making masterpieces from cotton balls, empty toilet paper rolls, paper plates, and penne pasta. We do over here! They are the cutest, but just can’t save them all. So I decided to make a book before the new school year begins. It will be a great way to document every year how their talents have grown. It is also an easy way to share with others without having to fumble a huge stack of greatness. The first step is to gather all the of finger painted, googly-eyed art, coloring pages and worksheets that you want to include and photograph them. Below are some tips that might help…

> take photos in a bright room with lots of natural light
> lay the artwork on a piece of white poster paper for consistency
> try turning off your flash
> a tripod can help keep your camera steady

Next step will be making the book…stay tuned for part two!

I wanted to share these polaroids I took of our big record breaking snow day that we had on Monday…we got over a foot here in the Midwest. Jax didn’t last long. When he came in shivering, he said ‘I’m wike an icicle!’ Too bad it wasn’t snowman making snow.

2013 was a big year, lots of adventures, celebrations, changes + many firsts for us! It went by fast…so many memories I am thankful for. Cheers to the new year…I know it is going to be good!
In January, our little superhero Jax turned three. In April we celebrated Casen’s first birthday under the big top. The end of June we said goodbye to our boxer, George, he went to live with my friend Jake. July we took a family vacation to the beach with my in-laws and I finally got to meet one of my mama friends, Maddie and her little ones. And we made it another year…cheers to being married for two years! Speaking of years, I turned 30! Jax started preschool! I was a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding and at the same exact time I became and aunt again to my adorable niece, Avery. In October, I accepted a full time position as an art director for a major shoe company…huge transition for us, but so lucky to have some great sitters for the kids. I bought a new car. And I launched a few new products Frills paper + goods.

This year I have learned:How to actually be on time…once. To work through my procrastination and plan ahead.Buying a new car is a total pain.Sometimes you have to do things for your family and not yourself. That I was quite possibly born to live on the beach. To standup paddleboard. To soak in all the moments I can with my boys. How to eat clean. That produce delivery service cuts down time at the grocery store.I’m most productive between 1-6am.That I will have a never ending shoe supply.
Thank you so much for reading my blog, supporting my shops and following me on IG. Y’all are too kind…thank you for the sweet comments and love. Hopefully one day we can meet! Happy 2014 everyone! xo

SNOW DAY! Sunday it snowed ten inches! It was sort of Jaxon’s first real snow day. All the other snowy days were crap. He and Daddy made a their first snowman together. I was staying warm inside with Case, taking photos of the sweet moment. It was so great to watch. Jax loved putting all the snowman parts on. ‘Mom we need a hat!’ ‘Mom we need a mouth!’ He turned out awesome. Best. Snowman. Ever.

If you know me, I love Andy Warhol. Always have. In college I took an entire semester long class all about him. He was not only an amazing artist but he was collector of things. He had over 600 cardboard boxes filled with little things from his life. He called them time capsules. Some of which are at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Every so often they open one up and place the items on display.

When I found TimeCapsules, I immediately thought of Andy. So did this company founded by product designer Anouk van der El, creative collective Venour and graphic designers Mae Engelgeer and Marloes Sijm. I love the concept. I have always wanted to package up and tuck away some of the boys’ keepsakes. TimeCapsules is a perfect way to keep the memories and one day open them up in the future. Find all the details of what is inside the TimeCapsule and how to order one on their site. It’s the next best thing.

It’s gone. The stump is still there, but that is going to be gone soon too. I admit, I like the sun…but we loved its shade more. Nothing we could do. It was completely rotten inside. The tree guys said that when it fell, it just split right in half. The last thing we wanted was for it to fall on our house. So long ginormous pine oak.

Loving Atsuyo et Akiko’s collaboration with Disney…far from the ordinary branded apparel. They actually just won the 2011 Quality Product Award for their Mickey + Minnie designs. When I was little my room was filled with Mickey everything…of course all the cheesy collector items, but I did have some pretty awesome vintage pieces. I am going to have to dig up the photos…I was obsessed. I want to get Jax one of the hand silkscreened tees in the shop just to reminisce.

This weekend we took Jaxon to the pumpkin patch! I promise he had pants on when we arrived. :) The weather has been crazy here…one week its freezing and the next its like summer! His little cheeks were so red. He had fun sitting on the prize winning pumpkins and seeing all the farm animals. I just had to share because we don’t take too many good family photos. It was a great day!

Meet Johanna who is creating a fun keepsake book throughout her pregnancy as she waits to meet her little Mia to arrive. This is such a great way to document such an amazing experience. I know that when I was pregnant with Jaxon, I wasn’t really into the ‘belly book’ my mom purchased me. It was cute, except now most of the pages are blank. I wish I would have seen this idea. See more pages here!

Jaxon officially can roll over both ways! I missed it the first time, tried to video tape it the second time…nothing. But he did it again today for me, so here it is. Enjoy it as much as I do!
