Time to play blog catch up. I know its Friday the 13th, but I’ve been working a ton this week to finish all my projects because I have no idea when the baby is going to arrive. Yep. Still pregnant…37½ weeks.

Why did you decide to name your son Jaxon instead of Jackson? When I have a baby I'm totally naming him Jackson, and I've thought about Jaxon but I've never seen it done until now. I was just wondering why. :) — Asked by patienceisbeast

I always liked the name Jackson…but I wasn’t really a fan of the name/nickname Jack. (I have lots of friends and relatives with that name already.) I knew people would try to shorten it no matter what, so we intentionally spelled his name with an ‘x’ because it could be abbreviated as, Jax. We are doing the same thing with our little one on the way. I just like having the shortened name already within the name.

Guess I should have waited a year for the monopoly guy costume. Of course, now he loves it…’hat’, ‘hat mommy’. He is a mess. A mess that I can’t get enough of.

Very French Gangsters…eyewear for kids. Oh my these kids are too much! This is an incredible promotion, I just had to share. Get a load of those curls.

[ part two ] Instead of a game at the baby shower, my sister and I thought that it would be fun to do a DIY. We made paper lunch sacks with all the supplies + instructions to make little hair clips for the baby. Above are some of my favorites…even my niece London made baby Adelaide (Addie) one!

[ part one ] This past Sunday we threw my older sister a vintage school themed baby shower…she’s a teacher. It was so much fun to plan. I designed her invitations to look like a vintage flashcard. It has been really cool being pregnant at the same time with her, even though this is her first baby, my second. And she is having a GIRL! Hence the cake…which is a traditional cake that my family makes for anyone expecting. I always decorate it so it has a modern twist. Look for part two, my little sister and I planned a fun DIY for the guests.

Just a little case of the mondays.

34 weeks today…about ready to POP! I have no idea when this little guy is going to come. I am getting nervous, well a little anxious actually. My husband keeps saying, ‘It’s too early’. I know. I know. But Jax came early (35 weeks 2 days), so you never know. We are throwing my sister a baby shower (yes, I have yet another sister that is pregnant) this weekend. Hopefully I will still be waddling around…I don’t want to miss it! In the meantime, I have been finishing up the nursery, washing some teeny tiny clothes, cleaning up the car seat and bouncer and stocking up on diapers. I am going start packing a bag of basics this week…just in case. What did you pack in your hospital bag?

I’m totally into the dipped furniture lately. The La Clinica Collection is hand crafted furniture based on natural materials and low-tech production process by Ciszak Dalma. This little crib is incredible and I can’t get enough of the adorable wooden swing either! I would love to incorporate a piece into the baby’s nursery.

just a little 6 am conversation

  • Jax: (standing next to our bed) mommy. mommy up?!
  • Me: okay, get up here.
  • Jax: banket? (on the floor)
  • Me: okay.
  • George: (pacing the kitchen)
  • Me: I'm gonna have to let Georgie out.
  • Jax: (as I'm scooting out of bed, he leans up and whispers) mommy. dit milk.
  • Me: okay, I will.
  • Jax: tank you, mom.

Afew days late…my little man is 26 months old now! When do you stop counting in months? That always bothered me before I became a mom. So…Jaxon is 2 years and 2 months, ha!

I feel like ever since Jax turned two, I am just so amazed by how smart he is. How much he concentrates and thinks and even what he remembers. His favorite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? by Bill Martin Jr. and illustrator, Eric Carle. It is perfect because we are learning colors now. He has been a pro at blue for a while. He loves to draw. Gotta get him some sidewalk chalk for sure! He’s definitely going to be an artist. Although he really digs music…caught him dancing nude in the living room to Dance-a-Lot Robot. Hilarious!

He is currently obsessing over going outside and riding his little bike…pedaling all by himself. I think we’ve been stuck in our home for too long. The weather has been so gorgeous. It’s pretty funny, he still thinks that he needs a hat and coat to go outside. ;) We are all ready for summer! (We booked our ‘kid-free’ vacation! Hoping to take Jax to the beach for a weekend though.) My work has really been picking up lately and he is now going to the sitter a few days a week. Which is awesome because he gets to play and run around all day with his best friend, Carter. (They were born a month apart.) They wear each other out, so much that he will fall asleep eating at dinner.

Potty training is going well…it is not quite an everyday thing, but he understands what he is suppose to do. We even got him a new seat for the ‘big potty’. Hoping that he can catch on before the baby arrives. Eating is going even better. Should have switched to 2% milk a while ago. He is eating so many more fruits and meats. Still trying to sneak in the veggies. We went to the doctor and he weighed 30 lbs and was 35 inches tall…happy to see him in the 60ish percentiles!

I’m an AUNT again! My step sister had teeny tiny baby girl yesterday…welcome to the world, Hazel Leann Holcomb! She is 6lb 13oz, and 20 1/4 inches long. So happy that we were able to see her, we had originally went home to celebrate my nephew’s baptism. Jax was so amazed, I can’t wait until our little one arrives and to see his face.

Kids Case…a children’s clothing shop where I want to put everything in my cart! Loving their spring and summer collection. Lots of comfy basics. I’m thinking that our new little one is going to have a wardrobe full of stripes!
